Hey there friends! Welcome back to Doggo Bloggo. This week Lily and I are making doggy paw print molds! This is an easy project you can do with your pup with just a couple of ingredients from your pantry. You can make these for yourself or as gifts, or even as an ornament. Original post here.
Supplies
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- Parchment paper or aluminium foil
- A sealant, I’m using a spray acrylic sealant (spray acrylic sealant, mod podge, clear nail polish)
Directions
- Mix the salt, flour, and water in a bowl until it becomes firm. Knead the dough for 30 seconds and then cut individual circles with a cup or other cookie-cutter shape if you have one big enough to account for your pup’s paw to be pressed in the middle.
- Press your dog’s paw into the salt dough and if you want to make this an ornament use a straw/pen cap to make a small hole at the top for feeding string/ribbon through later for hanging.
- Bake at 200 degrees in the oven for 2-3 hours or until completely dry.
- Once it has cooled you can either seal it or paint it and then seal it. Sealing is an important step as this is still a food item so this helps it from molding or bugs getting to it.
We hope you have a fantastic week. Stay Safe, Live, Love, and Pet all the animals!
Love,
Jess & Lily
Is it possible to do this with cats as well?
Absolutely! It might be easier to roll it out and have your cat walk on it then cut out the shape around the print. I saw where someone put it on the parchment paper and then on the ground and used a treat to entice the kitty to walk over it. 🐾
