Hi there friends! Welcome back to Doggo Bloggo. This is a fun easy to make toy that can be customized and replicated with different colors, patterns, lengths, and thicknesses. It is a simple, fun craft to make. So let’s get to it!

Supplies

  • 1/3 yard of fleece
  • Scissors
  • Clamp for holding fleece while braiding
  • Rubber band

Directions

Cut the material into three 4-inch strips of material the full length of the cloth about 60 inches. Three 4-inch strips equals 12 inches or one-third of a yard. Make sure each strip is lined up together so they are even and fold them all in half. Use a clamp to hold the middle of the strips onto a table or workbench so you can start to braid.

Braid the three strips on the right of the clamp. As you braid make sure to pull it a little tight and go until you hit 4-6 inches. You can use a rubber band to keep this section in place then repeat on the left side. Remember to move your clamp a bit onto the existing braid before you start the left side so your braid meets right up against the right side. Remove the rubber band and pull both sides together. You now have a handle.

Make the Tug

Now that the handle is done you are going to join the two sides together. You now have 6 strips to work with. Match the strips from each side and braid them tightly like you did with the handle. Avoid having loose strips as your pup will be able to find the weak spots while pulling and you won’t have this toy around for long. Once you reach the end knot the strips together. You can either trim up the ends or leave them it’s up to you.
